Default My 04 WRX is boost spiking

My Impreza WRX 2004 is boost spiking to just about 15 psi and then drops to about 13 psi. But when i reach about 6000 rpm the boost drops to 11-12psi.
I just got my self a borla 3" cat back an a noncatted downpipe. At the same time I putt on a new spark plugs (NGK Irodium) so called "one step colder".
But before these mods i had a k&n kone filter.

How can i stop my wrx from spiking?

Gonna need a remap to account for the less restrictive exhaust

Normal to see boost 'tail off' at high rpm but as Turbotits says - remap!
The decat has totally changed how the flow of gas through the engine is dealt with and your ecu just isn't set up for the new parameters, hence the spiking. Worth doing ASAP to prevent any damage and also to maximise the performance gains you should see from a decat.

Cheers,

Stewart.

Ok thanks.

But a little bit of a problem. I live in Iceland and there is no one that can do a remap here.

I'm thinking of just sending mi ECU to UK and getting it remapped there.

Who to u reccomend to do a remap for me.
I need every info u have, address, price etc

The ecu cant really be mapped off the car as the map depends on so many variables specific to your car. I'm sure it could have a map which is closer to the standard one for your modifications but I'm sure there will be a mapper somewhere in Iceland that has knowledge of the subaru ecu.

You dont need an Ecutek map, OpenECU will allow license free mapping.

I dont think you can buy a piggyback for the newage ECU (unless PPP was a piggyback upgrade?).

have a look at ECUFlash here and maybe visit the forum, I'm sure someone can help you (and the mapper).

Main Page - OpenECU

Scoobynet member JollyGreenGiant uses ECUFlash I believe, might be worth seeing if he can offer any advice too ?

Good luck, I hope you get it sorted out.
