Default mayb problem with td05/06 20g???

hi i have got this turbo on my 00 classic sti, was told that it was a andy f one when i brought it, today i have had the inlet manifold off to remove the turbo inlet pipe, and i noticed there there is around 1-2mm max movement in the shaft from side to side, no movement back and forward.

is this normal?

if you move it to the side and spin it around, it does feel a little bit stiffer to turn

what do you turbo masters think?

p.s it has done around 4-5k max miles

Side to side movement in a turbo is ok, its the in and out movement that allows oils past the seals and also causes wear!

I have an Andy F 20g, a rebuilt one from him 3 years ago and the shaft was play-free. It still is.

I would send him an email and see what he says. IMHO there should be no play in the bearings.
