Default Can anyone help?? My auto to manual gearbox conversion, throwing up CEL.

My MY94 wrx started life as an auto (sa model) , was converted to 5spd manual by previous owner, at any random time when driving, although seems to happen most when after higher speed cruising i am slowing down, the cel appears and i can get rid of it buy just holding clutch down and letting off the throttle for a few seconds and it just goes out, so in effect returning engine to idle. The CEL code is 51- neutral position switch, any ideas how i can stop this without having to change all the ecu's (auto ecu etc) and loom etc?
thanks

Does it have a neutral position switch fitted to the wiring harness ?
It may of been removed when the box was swapped, so it could be worth getting on strapping it somewhere and connecting it up.

Good shout scott, i have not got a clue where i might find the sensor, or where it might come off the harness? Anyone shed any light on this please?
