Default is it worth changing

getting my cambelt changed soon, has anyone any advice on what else to get changed whilst there doing the belt.
cars a 1994 uk turbo with 108,000miles so i was thinking whilst getting the cambelt done would it be worth doing the tensioner and water pump or would i be spending money i dont need to.

i think people do these other parts at the time of the cambelt because if they start to fail it will cost you atleast double, when you could have them done at the time of cambelt removal,if that make any sence at all .(beer )

tensioner on the early car is not an issue.. unless it leaks oil when compressed slowly in the upright position then reuse it..

check the idler pulleys.. the bearings do fail..

but the thing you need to change as a must imho is the front crank seal.. they usually fail around that mileage.

Cambelts - Mark @ Lateral Performance stocks them...

cheers simon, the reason i mentioned the tensioner is because for the last 6 months there has been a very slight knocking sound at cold start up from the front end.(which has got no worse over the last 6 months and goes away after 30secs) but someone mentioned to me it could be something to do with the cambelt tensioner.

shop around for the cambelt KIT comes with all you need inc tensioner. change the spark plugs while you got the bonnet up (not as hard a job as some say) also get the two aux belts for the altanator and i think the otherone is for the aircon pump you have to take them off to do the job.

get some new coolant, i dont know how others do this job but if you remove the rad there's loads of room to get at the cam belt. when i did this job i also changed the engine oil and filter (it would be rude not to)

checked pulleys and belts today for tension and they seem fine,so i just sprayed some wd40 on them and the squealing has gone and i couldnt hear any knocking either
ive done plugs, coils and oil myself not long ago so i think i will change the water pump and front crank seal(well scooby technics will)and see what they say about cambelt idlers etc.
cheers for replys
