Default Speedo converter

I have just bought a speedo converter/delimiter.

Are these easy to fit? The guy i bought it off said he would send me instructions on how to fit but he didnt!

And will i need to change the clocks or will it work on my 180km clocks and read accurately?

Thanks Sean

It all depends if the convertor fits at the back of the speedo or inbetween the long & short speedo cable.

Get a picture up of the convertor as it would help.

If its the one that fits inbetween the 2 cables then its a matter of pluggin it in. The short cable (speed sensor) geabox end is on the driver side just by the dipstick. Plug the long speedo cable off the short cable, make sure you dont loose the clips. Then plug in the convertor, then plug in the long cable into the other end of the convertor. Just make sure you have both clips which hold the cables in place on each end.
Job done.

You dont need to change the speedo but it would complete the job by placing a mph sticker over the kph. Speedo out & remove the clear casing then refit.

Its not the type I am common with.
But it may fit directly onto the back of the speedo as I cannot see any slot cut outs for the clips.

Does it have a spindle in the larger side diameter casing (right side on pic)

Here is my old speedo cable complete with convertor (black box) & the short cable (speed sensor) which fits to the gearbox.

You may as well tackle the job & remove the speedo as you will need to change the kph to mph. You can then check if the convertor fits.
Its either inbetween the cabless or back of the speedo.

I normally drop the steering column to aid removing the speedo. There should be 2 x 12mm bolts which hold it to the main a pillar cross bar. There are 3 electrical plug connector at the back of the speedo. 1 on each side & another near the mid right hand side.

Yes it has a spindle on the large end then a small opening on the other end.

For this job you do not have to remove the speedo either.

Remove the lower trim only, lie on your back with a torch. From there you can easily see and reach the back of the speedo. Beware though. The speedo cable is only just long enough so if you pull it will disconnect from the gearbox end.
