Been on induction for some time and only owned classics, but when I was on filters I used ITG as well and never had a problem. No idea if this is still the case for the newer girls.

Id be interested to know this i have a similar car.

didnt really ever think about an induction kit. i like the way the air is channeled at the moment from the front, maybe a new panel filter might help things though?

Unless you're heading for big power (350+) the I/K's aren't worth it on Scoobs. The standard airbox and intake is well designed and even the benefits of a free-er flowing panel are minimal. I/K's can kill the MAF sensor due to excessive vibration unless well mounted. Power can also be reduced due to increased intake temps by drawing in hot, dirty engine bay air, unless you isolate a good cold air supply. ITG filters have a history of causing MAF failure due to oil contamination. The rep came about mostly on the 98-00 cars with hotwire MAF sensors, but mud sticks. Green, K&N and JR Racing are well respected. If you want to mod the intake any further, do a search for 'snorkelectomy' or 'resonator removal'. It's free, safe and make things slightly better.

well,if you look at ALL big BHP/Torque scoobs there running.................

Induction kits,Not one has the standard airbox,if mounted as instructed,Induction kits are fine !

its when muppets fit an I/K and leave it looser than a london ****** suspender belt.

I just bought another TSL Green filter, although the newer ones now have a blue weave colour.
Sod cleaning them out, i have spent enough on mods, i can afford a new filter! LOL

You may note that I did say 'over 350bhp'. For anything less there is no point as the extra airflow is wasted when you don't have the turbo, fuelling, intercooler etc to necessitate it. If someone comes on here not knowing if an I/K will suit them, it's odds on that they haven't got a clue about extreme tuning and are simply following the 'Novice Car Modders Guide to Spending Money Without Gaining Power'. I try to help people within my knowlege to either achieve what they want or prevent them wasting time and money on things they simply don't need. If their car is otherwise standard, they don't need an I/K, or a BOV !

Near enough that something like a K&N Typhoon drawing air from the wing could get some benefits if map'd to suit, providing the fuel pump, injectors, turbo and I/C aren't already getting overstretched.

Even Andy F hinted at the fact you dont need an induction kit on a new age sti under 400bhp

I should add that Mike Wood did say when they tested the PPP on the STi's that changing the filter did absolutely nothing for the cars performance just to let you know and if you do add an induction kit, you will have to have the car remapped

I did tests on four pannel filters twice in two days as the results from day 1 were not as expected. The results from day 2 (next day) were exactly in line with those of day 1.
There was a spread of 2 bhp from the "best" performing pannel filter to the "worst" performing filter.
Subsequent tests showed that the "best" performer also allowed through the largest sized particles, the size of a large grain of sand.
I now standardise on the K+N Pannel, not for its "power" performance but because of extended service intervals and because it can be cleaned and reused.
The O/E filter performed well in terms of power and filtration and is worthwhile if the limitations of changing and cost are accepted.
Removing the snorkle with no further modifications or remapping resulted in a noticable loss of maximum power but an increase in induction noise which gave the impression of power/speed.
I published the results which were pooh poohed by some "experts" but Mike Wood of Prodrive kindly came along and stated that my results were generally in line with their own findings.

Regards the whole airbox v. I/K debate, I've just gone from a standard airbox with A'PEXi panel filter to an A'PEXi power intake induction kit, and the car has now gone from peaking at 0.9 bar to 1.0 bar boost. Just running standard power levels at the minute (275 or thereabouts) but hoping for big(ish) power in the long run!
