Oil light flickering on??
When I accelerate and then back off to slow down, upon pushing the clutch in the revs drop right off and occasionally the red oil light flickers on for only a couple of seconds. It feels as if it is going to stall but hasn't done yet. What could this be??
The car has a GGR uprated oil pump and a VTA dump valve btw...

dont mess about and get it looked at, oil lights normaly come on after an engine has blown up from previous experiances!!
never had any previous warning from an oil light in any of my cars (and i have blown engines up in every single one of them )

It may be the dump valve is causing the idle to come to low to nearly stalling point. this could then cause low oil pressure. try puttung the o/e dump valve back on.

Right, cheers. Trouble with putting the stock DV on is, I havent got one!
Sounding completely naive here; but do you check the oil level when the engine is warm or cold?

p.s if you think the engine sounds funny dont drive intill you get someone to look at it.

Right, im sure I read somewhere that there was a set way of checking the engine oil, either hot or cold??
The engine does sound/run fine, and the light only comes on for about a second every once in a while. How can I check if there is any damage/problems??

From experience, it's your dump valve, increase your idle so your car idles at 1000 to 1200rpm.
My car does this after every service when the mechanics decide to reduce the idle (when the car is cold) meaning that when it's warm it's barely high enough to keep the car running. when the VTA goes off, the idle would drop low enough for the oil light to come on or even stall the engine.
