Default Air resonator box - to boost solenoid Q

Hi all,

I have been doing some work on the wrx and while changing the air filter I noticed that a small connection (on the air resonator box) under the large connection to the MAF has been broken off. There is a tube hanging which should have been connected here which I am told runs to the boost solenoid. This is on the left hand side of the car.

Can anyone tell me what effect there will be on the running of the car with this connection missing? Some one on another thread mentioned a kit which removed the resonator box and this connection to the boost solenoid can be left to VTA, is that right?

I am having some idle problems from cold starts (hunting and sometimes a stall) and wondered if having this connection broken might cause it given that there is now a hole in the resonator box!

Please excuse my ignorance, I am not the most clued up individual on impreza engines but I am learning as I go!!

it will have little effect, infact most of the cars I have seen already have it broken.
the best solution for you would be to blank the hole off to the resonator box by putting a screw into it, then leave the pipe from the boost control solenoid venting to atmosphere.

Excellent, I was hoping someone might say that! I will cover the hole tonight and leave the pipe disconnected!

Many thanks for that
