Question would too much oil pop head gaskets

hi
would too much oil pop head gaskets cos just had re build and they gone after 120 miles dont why this has happened

personally i doubt it.

maybe heads not torqued up to correct figure?
are scooby head bolts stretch type and need replacing when removed if so were they changed when heads were refitted?

no mate there not stretch bolts can re use and re use must be not put in rite

they are stretch bolts as the final tightening sequence is an angular torque

did you have the head surface checked to make sure they aren't warped?

definately 100% not stretch bolts in an impreza

service manual states that the headbolt will need to be replace whenever the head is open. think its a good time to just get arp headbolts

could the block be distorted? had the motor got hot\had a hard life?

Cracked heads maybe? and the head bolts are stretch type but can be used a couple of times from memory.

Never use a stretch bolt twice, its false economy.
I know people that cut some off the bottom and use again on non turbo which is fine, but on turbo motors the boost in the cylinder will push the head off if the bolts have stretched.
By the time you have paid for labour, head gaskets, oil, etc etc a set of head bolts would have been alot cheaper. But then the engine builder should have known that if he knew whats what

no it did nt get hot mate, just had a full rebuild a month ago but had to come apart again cos clip come out gudgen pin and knacked a bore. got new head gaskets but not head bolts is this why this happend after 120 miles.

thanks this sounds like what has happened ordered bolts today and tripple layer steel gaskets gonna do engine this weelend fingers crossed this is the problem

Not up on Scooby motors yet, but if they are stretch bolts they MUST NEVER be used twice
