Default What would be the effect of a small up-pipe post tubular headers?
In the quest for better spool...

What would be the effect of putting a 42mm OEM up-pipe on the end of the 4-1 collector from a set of Gruppe-S headers. The standard Gruppe-S up-pipe it meant to be around 55mm which is huge!

I was intending on porting the bottom of the up-pipe to smooth the flow but what not sure how it would effect gas flows going from the large collector area down to a small up-pipe diameter?

Any ideas?

I would fit a Helix flexible up pipe, only because I did and the result is fab.
Great spool-up low down and screams all the way up to 8K.

Name of a manufacturer sorry.
Has the reputation for being robust and a gas tight bolt flange.

Sorry it is on the car, but iirc the stock gaskets were a nice fit to the tube diameter, so I would say stock cast iron dia.
