sometimes when cold, when i start her up without using the throttle she fires up but idles lumpy putting away at about 500 rpm all ruff and lumpy then gains in idle on her own upto the normal then is fine, this can occure 4 times a week or once a week from cold, never from hot.

hmm, possbile i suppose, but its only for like 5 - 10 seconds, i fire it up, putt putt putt bah bah bah and then the idle increases to what it should be,then its fine for a day or maybe a few days then it will do it again, only from cold tho, or not started for 6 hrs or so,i.e leaving work.

I assumed it was due to the change in map, but maybe that was just a coincidence. Mine does'nt do it all the time either. Does anybody else have any other ideas what it could be?? My coolant sensor was changed about 2.5 years ago, how long do they last?

Mine does it also, as mentioned in various threads by me.
It seems to be moisture though for me.
I put it down to having an induction kit with wide open 22b bonnett vents above it.
Could be wrong though, as it seemed to only notice when I changed the oil.

yep i get the splittering, problem is from cold if i fire it up and dont hold the revs at 1500 for 2 secs it cuts out, when the water temp reaches 30degrees and you start driving slowly it splutters so bad until about 60degrees, havent figured out whats up. i think it needs a service, when was the last time the oil and coolant was changed along with plugs?
