Default Hyperflow Tmic Classic Review

Just a brief review on the hyperflow tmic for a classic

In this case ver 3/4 unit.

For my ver 4 type R - the install was very easy. All hoses / brackets lined up fine. I had to trim the rubber on the undertray to be able to close the bonnet.

The rubber seals around 5mm in on the sides or the first plate. So altho not 100% optimal its pretty good - and this way it seals more effectively IMO.

The size of the unit is 16 x 38 x 11.5 vs 16.5 x 41 x 8 (Sti) ?

So it has smaller "plan view" area than a new age sti tmic.

v3/4 608cm2 vs sti 676.5 cm2 - sti is 11% bigger in area

But on volume is about 30% more than the sti tmic. Or its about 100% bigger than the OEM classic tmic.

v3/4 volume 6992 cm3 vs sti 5412 cm3

(Note a ver 5/6 hyperflow is slightly different 15 x 38.5 x 11.5 = 6641 cm3)

So what was it like to drive ?

I run a stock vf24 at about 1.2bar - Apexi PFC

Firstly unmapped - you could feel the extra torque especially in 4/5th. And intake temperatures dropped dramatically. To about ambient +10C. Where as before it could be 20-30C above.

The car previously was feeling sluggish in the heat - now it has regained its power / torque. (This was the main reason i upgraded - to restore power)
Very impressive was u drive home open the bonnet and the tmic feels cold.

After tune power differences

at 17psi - the power increase was about 9% - from 177kw atw to 194kw atw.
