And today's first question is: Identify that flange!
Well, I thought that might make some of you look!. Seriously though, I think I made a schoolboy error when I got a sport cat to replace my blowing cat. After using a set of calipers on the main exhaust and noting how well it fitted the stock cat, I deduced that the flange on the main system was for a 2.5" cat join, despite being a 3" design itself. Could I have been wrong on this? I have taken a pic of the join so that hopefully a few of you that have seen many different flanges over the years can give your expert flange-inspecting opinions . It would appear that I haven't inspected nearly enough flanges myself .
I was moaned at that this would be restrictive to the exit flow and should be sorted. If I am wrong and it is a 3" main flange then either another new 3" sport cat or a 3" decat it will be then!
Cheers,
Nick

Schtar! I follow you completely and that sounds like a plan as I want to keep the existing rear section, the sound is perfect for me. I think I will just sell the sport cat as is and get a full 3" decat. I thought exactly what you said dimension-wise but needed confirmation .
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

got one here, it has a flange like yours that needs opening up with a flapper wheel to make it a straight joint rather than one with a donut gasket, but it is a true 3" decat. you will still need to get a flange for the exhaust though.
I would say that you are probably better staying with the sports cat and getting the flanges put on both if possible though.

not too sure how far you want to travel or where you are exactly, but I've just googled custom exhausts south england and a company called racing green tvr do custom exhausts. with a bit of looking, you should be able to find somewhere. Do a bit of searching and you should come up with something.

I was thinking of going over to Hayward & Scott in Basildon as I have had their bits in the past and they also worked miracles reparing my buckled Nur Spec R years ago! Shame they are in Basildon. I am not wrong in assuming that they will have to take the DP off to weld the 3" end on am I.
Cheers and I will have a google.

Yeah, I knew the answer to the question before I asked it tbh . I think I may leave it all to a week or 2 before the new turbo, then remove both myself and get them sorted somewhere then stick them back on the car just tightly enough to get me to the mechanics to stick the new turbo on .

Just an update for the hell of it as I know you are dying to find out what is happening . Spoke to Hayward & Scott and they can sort both the system and the DP out with 3" ends same day for about £50 each. Worth it not to have to flaff around deciding what replacement system to get etc. Now, just got to unbolt all that lol
