mpg and dccd
hi, i am looking at getting a 2005 impreza sti. is it true only models after 05 plates have the dccd (i admit i would want the one that can be manually overode but can be auto) so what years have what?STI's that is) and i have heard that its only possible to get 250 miles from 60 or 70 quid. i just wondered if thats true and what other members with this car have received?! if you did a long run on a motorway at 3k revs or just below would you get a lot more mileage?when does the turbo kick in is it 3k? i know these cars are made to drive hard but when im going to work and back i dont like to drive it like its meant to be all the time! all replies would be greatly received thanks michael

Mine's a 54 plate, but a MY05, so it has DCCD-A, auto if you want the car to do the thinking, manual if you don't and/or are feeling brave.
I've averaged 26mpg since I bought the car around a Month ago, but the other night filled up, calculated the MPG and discovered I'd done 28.7. This was driving like my Granny most of the time, but not exceptionally slowly.....more just chilled out. I did 289 miles and the fuel light hadn't come on.
Normal/average driving you are looking at 26, boot it and you will get less. I have heard stories of 5mpg during mapping sessions and track days!!
As for the way to drive it. I find that only 6th gear creates any great worries for driving steadily. 6th is quite an "overdrive" when compared to the other five gears ad the car is somewhat sluggish below about 70mph.
Although......remapped today, so it may have improved matters a bit eh??

Agree with the above... i have a MY05 STi and get about 22MPG day2day running and 26ish on a long run.
MY05 STi onwards have DCCD-A. You may find some 2005 models on 54 plates though, but its fairly easy to tell which is the MY05 because it has some tiny arch extensions at the back (because of a wider track compared to MY03) and also a different interior. (looking for the Auto/Manual switch on centre console by handbrake gives it away too.. )
The only exception to this rule is the special edition WR1 from Prodrive, which is a MY03 based car but also has DCCD-A.
Good luck with your search... you wont regret it.
