Default Help Please... ' 96 STi RA engine info

Just stripped my 96 RA engine and the crank is f-ed. Noticed that it has 'RA' hand written on the crank, as did my friends RA which he recently rebuilt.
So do I need to get hold of an RA crank, or will any STI crank be o.k?
Or alternatively would I be better off buying a recon bottom end, again will I need an RA bottom end or are they the same as the STI. (Found a company doing recon STI bottom ends for 700 notes)
Any help or info will be muchly appreciated, as I'm pulling my hair out over this one!!!
Cheers

Keep the RA block, as it is closed deck i f it's a V2. I assume it has RA on it because it may have been balanced by STI David at API will more than likely know this. I'd say that any early STI crank will be ok, Mark at Lateral, Paul at ZEN or David (API) can supply these. Whilst it's apart, put ACL race series bearings in.

Never seen that before on a Subaru crank - must have been done after it left the factory.
IIRC - all the Center Thrust cranks are the same( apart from the 2.5 )

The early STI's were wrx's that were sent to STI where they had some changes made and re-badged as STI's, like hand built engines to STI spec as well as the seats etc.

With Impreza cranks new at £350.00, Race bearings at £160.00 + and STi pistons at £180.00 each plus rings at £100.00

I'd be very wary of the recon at £700.00.

I reckon that will be more CON than RE
