i've just decided to replace the inlet hose on me scooby thinking there was a leak, and after hours of swearing i finally managed to remove the inlet manifold and fitted the shiny new pipe, hours later i had it all back together and fitted the battery which i took off to charge, and when i tried to start it the check engine light was flashing and the car would only turn over 1/4 turn and then stop, and the starter only gets a live from the key for a split second. not sure if it's an immobiliser problem, the car's got a sigma key pad thingy in the glove box but i haven't got a code or owners manual, does disconnecting the battery cause any problems?

It could do, sounds like there could be an aftermarket relay stopping things, have a look under the steering column
