Default Is it only feasable to fit cone filters in wing on phase 2.....

Cars,as the use the MAP sensor no worry about the MAF,whereas if i fit my one filter in the wing, the MAF is joined to the cone filter, surely having the MAF in the wing is not good ?

anyone have pics of theirs ?

aps do a inner wing kit for the later classics, but you will need a ecu map tweek if fitting it as it will make it run very lean.

look at my scoob pic for a idea of it

thats what i have.

think that is the earlyest that they make them for (my97)

with the aps one like in the pic, you would need a remap even if it was the only mod on the car. because of how it changes the air flow over the maf sensor. so the maf needs to be re calibrated. think from what i remember it makes it run around 25% leaner

cheers for the info.

i could get that one, i presume its stated for 97-98 as it uses the original routing of piping, if i got that one, i could adapt some piping back to the turbo area etc,if u=ya get me,that would be the only difference i can see, unless im way off ?????

what do they go for, those things ?

cheers..

well,my plan now is to mount the air filter in the wing,i will attach this to it instead of the MAF

run some sort of samco hosing from this to another one then fit the MAF to this one, supporting it with a bracket then use some more samco type hosing to join it to the turbo

fingers crossed.

instead os amco (which is bloody dear) what other tubing/pipiing could i use to join it al together, hmmm

cheers

If you’re stuck you can use guttering for the pipe joins in between the samco until you get it set up correct.

Personally for the early engine layout you have i wouldn't bother. By the time you have got the parts to get the filter in the wing i dread to think how many bends and connectors you'll end up with.... which will greatly increase the pressure drop pre turbo. And if it's parts from B&Q being used it will not only perform badly but look like a dogs dinner too.

Best to get a decent induction kit (K+N not an ebay special) designed for your age of car and go about insulating from the heat of the engine.

Tony.

yeah,ur prob right,i might just remove the resonator box and replace with a pice of tubng to move the air filter closer to the wing to make room for heat shield

cheers

Kits like the K+N come with a section to remove the resonator, when i had one on my old classic it put the filter close to the wing and gave a much straighter rout through the MAF to the turbo.

Tony.

Ps remember that the resonator box has the take off to the ISCV so if you replace it DIY style that what ever you put in its place must maintain this connection or the car will not idle.
