Changing a piston

Changing a piston
I've been told by a local specialist that I have a slightly melted piston.
There is no loss in power or compression, just a rattle above 2500rpm when on part throttle. Under power, coasting or idle it is quiet. Oil pressure and temp are fine, afr is fine, timing is fine, no knock, looks like I just have a bad piston
What is a rough cost and how long does it take to change a piston, assuming no other damage to the cylinder etc?
53 plate wrx.
Cheers
Chris

id go for a 2nd opinion first
Otherwise, engine out, remove head(s) remove piston, replace piston, new head gasket re attach heads blah blah blah, engine back in. Depending where you go I would expect from 500 to 1k. Depending on mileage as well, I would personally put new bearings in as well.
