Default Engine Mangement light

Thought i'd ask the experts before taking my Bug eye WRX to the dealers...
Has anybody had this happen, picture his, I was doing a little spirited driving playing with an M3 like you do when (after he'd finally broke away, down hill I might add) my car has a sudden loss of power and the engine management light comes on, so i'm gutted thinking i've done something really bad and pull to the hard shoulder, but then I suddenly all the power is back and the car seems fine for the rest of the journey home.

Only thing now is the light remained on all the way home, will the light go off ? or do I need to have it checked out and reset ?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Spirited driving tends to set off a Camshaft position sensor error on the bugeye....the CEL light goes out after about 5 engine starts.

Either way I'd have the error code checked out

Shaun

PS I think the bugeye should have come with a free Select Monitor FOC Subaru UK !!

Hey Shaun,

Thanks for the info, you may be right, the light went out today, i've got it booked in for a check up at the Clinic to be on the safe side.

What's the select monitor thing (Sorry i'm clueless) anything for free....

Cheers

As mentioned the cam sensor is a prime suspect, Mine dit it too and stupidly bought a new one, then found out its a common thing. Seems the check engine light is a bloody common thing on bugeyes lol. I'm sick of seeing it, so much so i'm tempted to take the bulb out lol

Sounds like fuel cut , have you altered the turbo boost ? had it on mine when fitted a boost controller to a wrx and got fuel cut , left the em light on for a few days then went out by itself . lowered the boost slighty and was all ok again .

Scooba doo

Fuel cut not a problem on a bugeye without mods.....they just tend to throw a lot of CEL's for no reason.
