Question 400+ bhp remap

Just completing some upgrades in the hope of achieving around 400-420 bhp on my Sti 8,

but have a query on what injectors to go for..
Part of my upgrade includes a Fuel Lab regulator and have been told I would get close to this figure on my standard injectors. Have decided to push the boat out a bit and get larger injectors to make sure, as I will be planning further upgrades (mainly engine internals and 2.5 block) next year I was thinking of 650cc Sard injectors, now I know these have adequate capacity for what I hope to attain but bearing in mind for the future would it be OK to go for say 800cc injectors now as they cost the same or does it cause any problems when installing to large an injector for the job in hand?

Also are Sard injectors OK?

Cheers for advice in advance,

Dave.

if you can get bigger capactiy for the same price then that makes sense bearing in mind you are planning for the future. However what you do need to be careful off is the larger injectors can cause problems with low speed running/idle etc, so before you make a decision your best bet is to speak with your mapper and see what they advise.

Interested in the rest of your spec for those figures...

My injectors were running at 94% duty cycle at these <--- figures.

Willl be fitting unequal length headers, APS 3.5" full decat, APS cold air intake system, Andy F TD05 20G, APS FMIC and a silicone turbo air intake pipe along with an Apexi AVCR boost controller do you think I will hit my target figure of 400ish with this spec?

Already bought the blower off Andy, this should be ok for what I am after for now, when I upgrade the engine itself next year I will look at a larger one anyway. Probably an APS one.

Probably not, turbo will be the problem, on a std engine and pump fuel you will need some luck to get to 400 with a 20G.

best regards

What would need to be done to the engine Bob as I would only be running on pump fuel?

Cheers,

Dave

Will be close. The 20g is about 380-390 turbo!

If it doesn't, or you're unsure it will, why not add some octane booster. Was good for +20/20 on mine. So you should be able to walk into the 400 club saloon.

Think I'll ask Andy if he'll do an exchange as I got some of my bits cheaper of someone who wrote his scoob off whilst some of his(now mine) parts where still in the post. So fate may deal me a better hand for once or at least a Scooby

What is the spool up like (or should I say power delivery) compared to a 20G what might I expect to happen accross the rev range?

Cheers Lads

Then maybe a 10% methanol mix might be your thing. It obviously replaces the VPower and is cheaper, so a tank costs less and gives some extra ponies....quite a few on some cars.

A car needs to be mapped for Methanol mix as the Stoich value of Methanol is different to petrol (albeit it has higher octane rating). This will mean that the engine rubs a lot leaner than it thinks it is.

Get a bigger/better turbo - i am sure Andy would change the order for you
