I have seen 1 before. They seal a intercooler put a cap on top and fill it with water. and have a pump mounted somewhere else connected to a radiator to cool the water. Its only problem is when your still for long periods of time the radiator doesnt cool and it takes awhile to cool the water down. Where as a normal intercooler doesnt.

A 'chargecooler' is a water-air intercooler. An 'intercooler' is an air-air chargecooler. The upshot is, an intercooler directly cools the air flowing through its inside by the airflow across its outside. A chargecooler consists of two main heat exchangers - one is a basic water radiator and the other is an intercooler core with air inlet/outlet inside a sealed box with plumbing for water to circulate. Water is pumped round in a closed circuit, from pump, to chargecooler box, to chargecooler radiator, back to pump etc. Heat picked up in chargecooler box from air flowing through its intercooler core is taken out to the rad, dumped to atmosphere just like a normal water rad does, and the cold water goes back round again.
There are pros and cons of both chargecoolers and intercoolers, but in some instances a chargecooler is the only option because of plumbing restrictions i.e. it's a lot easier to get a pair of half inch water hoses down to the front bumper for an extra water rad, than it is to plumb in 2-3" intercooler air hose to an intercooler up front. Chargecooler also means you get the benefit of frontal airflow over the rad but still keep the ability to have a very short boost circuit from turbo through chargecooler box to throttle body.
