VF23 to VF35 upgrade
I'm changing the VF23 in my STi v4 Type R for a VF35. I know I need to fit a banjo bolt with a bigger oil feed because the VF35 is a sleeve bearing turbo.
Will the water and oil pipes be the same (i.e. do I need anything else?)?
New gaskets?

IFAIK the VF banjo will be ok for the VF35. I would advise that you replace the up and down pipe gaskets. The oil and water pipes will fit.

That's what you'd expect. However, mine has a VF23. Answers on a postcard.....
Yes the VF34 would be better, but then that's more money and the VF35 will do for me.

My Type R had a TD04 when I got it!!!
Depends on what you want as to which one is better. 34 will give you better figures, 35 will come in earlier which some may say is more important.
I now have a 35 in my V4 Type R.

What IC have you got and what power do you have?

Running standard IC.
Only had it fitted last week so not had it tested yet.
Paul at Zen guessed at somewhere around 320, so only about 10bhp behind a 34 with earlier spool. I may get it tested tomorrow so will report back.

Yes, please do. I have the standard IC as well. I was led to believe that the classic IC is marginal much above 300bhp, but changing it is expensive, whatever option you take.

Not had it tested yet but hoping to next week now.
Think the standard IC is good for about 350bhp.

Hi David : On an STi 3 with VF23 and 335 bhp it was very easy to get air charge temps soaring past 70C. With a VF28 at 320 bhp temps were still up to the 70C mark but took longer to get there.
