Fitting TD05 18g or 20g on early '96 STI RA ?
My original setup was a TD05 16g with the 'snorkel' inlet. I'm going to be fitting either the 18g or 20g from Andy Forrest when I decide which one will suit me the best ! I was going to use it as a front entry until I was told how difficult that actually is-raising the manifold-moving power steering pump etc !
Andy has said to me that it will be much easier to fit a 60mm id 90 degree hose to the turbo and then connect my original setup to that.
Anyone else fitted a turbo like this as I really need some advice on what parts I need and where to get them from ?

Hi mate
My car is a 1995 wrx with an IHI Turbo fitted in this way, the 90 degree hose is a samco jobby that keeps popping off because of the lack of space!!
It's now become a service item ( 1 new hose a year) apart from that it's fine, i have tried to get a mikalor clip on it but they are too wide anyway it can be done but i had a 55mm hose for the Turbo inlet!
Good luck

usually works without issue.. seen a couple which sucked shut under high boost! one used old fmic pipework, but not seen a problem with decent pipe.

Why do you need to raise the manifold/move the pas pump?
The front entry inlet from Samco (the thick walled one) just squeezes into place with a 20g on the car and stays put no probs.
Sod to fit mind.

Yours is front entry Phase 1.5 as standard Graham, the Phase 1 92-96 are a pain with them being 90 degree entry as standard and having a different manifold/pas pump.

Yes this happend with the old hose very strange feeling as your goiing down the road!
You have to cut quite a lot off the hose to make it fit and make sure you cut it perfectly!
I will post a pic tonight!
