Default dump valve mounted under vent

hi,

iv moved my dump valve to sit under the main scoop on the drivers side . can any one see and cons of having it there ? like heat off the turbo or water through the vent.
only moved it there to see weather it made it louder, iv only got the bailey dv so its not that loud normally compaired to some dv you can get for the scooby

cheers

what is it you actually want from the dumpvalve? is it just noise? moving it under the scoop isnt gonna make much difference. you have 2 option on making it louder.

1. increase pressure, you can get a larger intercooler (top mount or front) this will increase the amount of air flowing around the system and let more air out faster. or you can increase boost.

2. buy a dump valve with one of those really big horns on, or you can even get a dual horn dumpvalve.

im running a front mount intercooler with the quitest dumpvalve i could find and its stupidly loud still. i would hate to think what it would sound like with a horn on. i would just use a recirc dump valve but still have my doubts of pumping huge amounts of hot air back through my MAF sensor is a great idea.

so if you want something thats gonna wake up everyone in the street then get a front mount, dump valve with dual horn and turn your boost up, either with a remap or manuel boost valve (if your happy with a manuel boost i wouldnt advice it though).

As long as it's plumbed in and not leaking I can't see how it matters. The only thing I'd worry about if it's too near the turbo is any rubber seals hardening and perishing in there. But I don't know how close it is. If you want more noise, and you haven't done so already, just fit an open induction kit.

i wouldn,t worry to much about water going through your scoop and getting on your dumpvalve iwould be more concerned about stones and other debry that goes through and possibly into the valve when open and then on tour around the rest of your engine! if you want a loud dumpvalve get a turbosmart supersonic

Dont mount the dump valve in the scoop so you can see it!! ur get all sorts of stuff flying into it. under the scoop should be ok though. at best slightly forward so no stones or anything can knock against it even if they do fly in.

maybe this would be ok for you.

Or you can even get those 'electronic' dump valves off ebay that are like a speaker under the bonnet that makes a hissing noise.

i have a hks ssqv dumpvalve on mine an it is loud, just very expensive to buy you could try one of these though that i fitted to my mates scooby
1 GFB UNIVERSAL Dump Valve - Deceptor Pro (1025)

this way you can adjust the volume for when you need it loud or quiet

that thing looks a bit...... dodgie. basically it adjusts the spring electronically yeah. so when you want it quiet its set really hard so it doesnt release boost so easy, this may course backfiring and major engine problems if the engine cant release boost. or if its set way too loose so its loud, then you will be releasing boost way to early and loosing alot of power.

no it is fine the way it works is when you want quiet it recirculates the air as a standard dump valve does but when you want loud it realeases to atmosphere

i personally prefer the hks myself as they dont seem to have the troubles that baileys dump valves have with sticking open etc

Over my 3 scoobs I have had a Blitz DV, HKS DV, Bailey DV and now a Turbosmart Supersonic DV. It is loud but actually sounds like it has a purpose if you get me and vents very cleanly in my opinion. My favourite so far easily but not cheap .
