Question Newbie's Questions on back boxes

hi

just bought a MY01 WRX wagon and would like to replace the standard back box with something more lively and burbbley.... but not annoyingly deafing as i tend to drive long distances and dont want to have to go down the route of using a bung.

currently looking at...

Ninja
SW Afterburner vortex

any thoughts recommendations would be welcome....

regards
bob

Have a look at TSL Group N - I have this and it isnt too intrusive. I have also had a Miltek back box in the past which according to them keeps the noise outside rather than in. I notice on my classic wagon that you certainly hear the exhaust note more than in the saloon version - probably the same with yours, so make choice carefully if you dont want a head ache!

Thumbs up

Mongoose, brilliant build quality and finish and a great sound, not too loud or chavtastic

I've just fitted a Magnex back box, not too loud on my 99 impreza, just sounds deep and rumbles nicely!! Top quality and a perfect fit.

Quiet to loud :

Prodrive, Ninja, Afterburner, Blitz nur Spec.

I have the Prodrive, but with decat & deresonated apart from a Ninja sportscat downpipe. Has a distinct burble, fairly quiet with the windows closed.

I've got the Prodrive on mine at the moment which gives little noise at idle but when you stick your foot down it's still manages quite a satisfying growl whilst not managing to become too intrusive.
My Prodrive bb is soon to be replaced with a Ninja 2 thanks to SN & Scoobyworld

I'll let you know the differences between the Prodrive and Ninja 2 when I get it and get it on... unless you've made a decision by then of course.

Go for the afterburner with the bung.......so you can have it with the great boxer sound or fairly quiet.

I've got the Scoobyworld Racebox on my 04 newage at the moment which gives a nice deep burble (not too loud)at idle but when your right foot gets heavy it's got a fantastic flat four growl, not in the least bit chavvy. It`s also a fine looking box too(when i polish it)
