Probably cam covers if it's the same place on both sides.

Why not get the garage to look at it, tell you what it is and give you a price to fix it.

Does sound like cam covers.. Fiddly job but stupidly expensive.. Best to get the OEM parts then find a decent garage to fit them.. Subaru are a bit steep!

Dont bother using cheap after market gaskets, I did this and even though I did the job with the engine out (and im not a complete numpty) they still leaked.. Did the job again with the engine in situe and OEM gaskets and sealant, took me 3 hours.. No leaks!

For the inner, outer and bolt gaskets it comes to about 70 quid I think, you dont really need to replace the half moons.. (you'll see what i mean when you get the covers off).. If you are going to do it yourself invest in a 10mm ratchet ring spanner and some ThreeBond

Theres an anomally around 1997 where they switched to another gasket type (different rocker covers) for a few months then changed back.. Subaru accidently gave me this different type of gasket as mines a 97 which ment I had to cut some bits off lol..
