Default Service, new fluids

Right im planning on having the car remaped within the next cupple of months, so after i have sorted out my current problems i want to do a kind of service to make sure everything is upto scratch.

I have allready upgraded my break fluid to dot 5.1 so want to do all my other fluids and filters

Engine oil
oil filter

Gearbox fluid
transmision fluid

Fuel filter

Air filter, currently there is an after market pannel filter in there, should i clean this/replace for another after market 1/replace with standard filter?

Clutch fluid---upgrade to dot 5.1???

Power stering fluid--- is this worth changing?

And any other fluids filters there might be that i have missed.

The bottom end was rebuil by zen performance about 3k miles ago and the plugs/leads/head gaskets/ambelt were all renewed

The A?C and Altonator belt will be renewed too.

Can you tell me what items i need like which oil to go for filter and so on

I am capable of doing the service myself, just need a point in the right direction for which bits and bobs
Idealy a list i can take to my local car parts shop.

clutch fluid same as brakes dot 5.1
get a standard subaru oil filter about £5.00 with sump washer
i used the oil recomended in service book for mine, but do a search on here and it throws up loads of alternatives.
gearbox and rear diff castrol syntrax 75/90 seems to be the most common to use g/box takes just under 4 ltrs and rear diff just under 1ltr, on gearbox overfill it slightly i was recomended to put half a litre extra in it,apparently it protects 5th gear better
as for the air filter it all depends what type is installed at present whether you clean or change
i changed the pas fluid on mine but i was repairing a leak,i think i would leave it so long as level is ok and it does not look discoloured

Ok thanks, im not sure about the extra half litre in the gearbox tho...

What would be best, a standard Subaru Pannel filter or an after market filter?

You could get an STi panel filter

As for oil there are non stop debates on here... but dealers use shell helix 10W/40 Semi. I use Silkolene Pro S Fully Synth

Many tuners/specialists recommend the Green panel filter (Zen fitted one to my 93 WRX when it had its 90k service a few weeks back. Although, that said, I'm sure the STi filter performs similarly well.

I remember an article in Japanese Performance a few years back re. their white 'Project WRX' wagon - they were recommended the Green panel filter by a well known Subaru tuner as, if memeory serves, they had done objective tests on it regarding its flow characteristics. Allegedly it wasn't that far off many high-flow cone filters... but when you factor in its <£40 price and the fact that you don't have to worry about underbonnet temperatures, I'd go for one of these...

...Indeed, strangely enough, the same tuner recommended Silkolene Pro S engine oil in the same Jap. Perf. article...

...Allegedly, they were running, I believe, an Impreza Gp.N rally car in one of the national rally series and after a service halt, the car had dumped all of its oil out of the sump but still managed to complete the next 11 mile stage without any damage to engine or turbo!!! A great endorsement for this oil's coating characteristics and film strength under serious duress...
