today i noticed my oil pressure when givin it some beans and even at 60mph, was just under 5 bar.
at idle its cool at 2 bar and cold startup is 6 bar for 5 mins then drops as usual.
is just under 5 bar a bit worrying ?
oil temp was about 97 degrees.
when it cooled down to about 90 it got a bit more closer to 5 bar at 60 mph.

How many times... :-)
Subaru workshop manual states:
"Oil pressure:
98 kPa (1.0 kg/cm2, 14 psi) or more at 800 rpm
294 kPa (3.0 kg/cm2, 43 psi) or more at 5,000
rpm
• NOTE:
The specified data is based on an engine oil temperature
of 80°C (176°F)."
So with the engine properly warmed up, it'll be at least 1 bar at an 800rpm idle and at least 3 bar at 5000rpm. Measured at the pressure switch behind the alternator. I don't think there's a single person who's ever come on here worrying about it, that I can remember, who's actually had anything near low oil pressure.

to be honest I would change it at a max every 6 months, even if the mileage isnt great, ive recently changed mine along with the filter about 2 weeks ago and my oil pressure improved slightly (especially at idle) even though the dipstick level was approx the same

They seem low pressures. especially at that temperature, mine is nearly 3 bar at 850 idle and goes upto about 80 - 90 psi when warm when foot to the floor thats on a 150k 92wrx

Generally the oil should reach 6 bar at high RPM at around 80ºC. Check the pressure again when cooler, if it's okay then you've nothing to worry about. If it's still a little low when cool, then it may be due to the oil thinning with age, or it may be an early sign of bearing wear. I don't want to alarm you as gauges are often inaccurate, the main thing is if the pressure drops off over the next few thousand miles, then it could well be the sign of a problem.

LOL warning taken Paul. But I don't see any erratic patterns of pressure either so I'm not worried. If I see the pressure jumping up and down or dropping down when up in the revs, then I'll start worrying.
