do you mean when you let of the accelerator at 3k revs?

If so the turbosmarts are known for sticking, I have the megasonic and was having similar issues. I took it apart and lubed the piston and also the piston housing with 3 in 1 oil put it back together and it will dump at low boost, worth a try doesnt cost anything

i dont think it really should let off under 3000rpm much anyway. it also depends how your accelerating, if you slowly creep up to 3000rpm then let off you wont get hardly any dump if any as there is very limited built up pressure. if you accelerate hard to 3000rpm then let off you will get lots. your turbo is only really just starting to spool at 3000rpm so dont expect much at all really

I disagree woody1980, mine is audible below 3000rpm and mine isnt on a soft setting, car is only mapped for 1.2 bar so not even loads of boost really. If i change mine to the lowest setting then it will leak air therefore always making a noise.

Stigaz, you may find that you need to tighten it slightly once oiled to prevent leakage

well i can sort of tell when my turbo is kicked in due to gear change at different revs. anything under 3000rpm there is little or no noise. anything over 3000rpm there is lots of noise.

also depends on how i get to 3000rpm, fast 1000rpm to 3000rpm i will get lots of noise. slowly going to 3000rpm i dont get much at all.

its the same if i drive at 80mph if i let off the pedal completely i will get some but not huge amounts of noise. if i go from 60mph to 80mph quickly then let off i get a huge noise. its all to do with how much pressure your building up at the time aswell as what speed your engine is doing.

it also depends what turbo you have and intercooler, i have a td05 with a front mount so im spooling up alot later that a td04 with a top mount. my pressure at 3000rpm is only minimum compared to a td04 with top mount as this will be spooling already and creating lots of pressure
