Default Dump valve question...

Mates fitting a front mount and been told that on a scoob you dont actually haft to have a dump valve on the car at all.

Is this true, can a scooby run without one?
What are the Pros/cons?
What sort of noises do you get if any when you'd normally get the wooosh?

Hi Sizer,

I think the idea behind DV's is to alleviate the pressure when releasing the throttle (changing gear for example).
Other wise theres nowhere for the air to go and it tries to stall the turbo, which puts stress on the bearings, and you get the flutter as the turbine chops the backed up air.

I was told also that a DV was to help turbo spool up to?

Not sure what model your mate has but on my FMIC installation I had to revert from a VTA to a OE recirc item.

Thats a whole can of worms.. Some argue the turbine is stalling but others argue the waste gate is opening and closing to aleviate the pressure... Depends on which school of thought you subscribe to
