Induction options on a 95/96 wrx?
Just had remap couple of days ago by andy forrest, Td04H, 440s, walbro, new coil packs, apexi fc, simota panel filter, blitz ebc. 280bhp, I need an sti intercooler (now sorted) and need some better induction to make 300bhp.
So Im just wondering what the best option is for the induction side of things. Ive been told either a cone filter (K n N the best?) with some sort of heat shield, or leave the air box on and replace the tubing with straight thru tubing? Remove the snorkle box, and some other box as well? Dont know much about this at all so could do with some advice please, which is the best route to go? Can these bits be bought or is it custom made stuff?
Thanks, Darren

Just out of interest which sti IC have you gone for?
If it was me I would go for a cone filter with a heat shield this way if I decided to go for more power at a later stage and fit a fmic you would already have the air intake sorted.
I think Apexi do a intake kit that replaces all the intake tubing.

Apexi ik is one of the best imo.
I'm surprised you didn't think of maybe changing the turbo over to a td05 as you had a remap.
I've de-schnorkeled my 93 wrx replaced with a bit of flexible ducting
Before anyone says, yes it has a heat sheild in place and i know the filter is dirty (it is an old photo)

Or you could try a wing mounted kit, it's easy to do if you can get someone to do the custom pipes for you. I discovered that a mushroom filter fits quite snugly inside the wing and you don't have to mess around with heat shields.
I'll post some pictures of my setup tomorrow morning.

Is this generally seen to be an easier option than a normal induction kit with a heat shield?
Haven’t got a clue who would do custom pipe work though

Wing mounted is best imo and you really don’t need “custom pipes” everything you need to mount the filter in the wing is available of the shelf. Samco hoses and alloy tube etc will do the trick.

Next question is can someone tell me exactly what samco bits etc i need to order?
