![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
NEED HELP.Did something real stupid and could kill myself,i got 1996 impreza sti and couldnt replace the filter element on it cuz the shop was out of stock.so i decided to clean the filter with a brush and soapy water.i thought i dried it enough and put the filter back and took the car out for a drive only 20 mins later the car stalled on me and couldnt get it to restart..the breakdown guy thinks that dirt and water has got into the carburettor or that the fuel injectors are blocked or the fuel line is blocked with muck from the filter..ive sprayed some fuel injector and carb cleaner into the air intake and the car starts but then cuts out again after a few seconds..the car was working fine up until i did this..does anyone have any ideas would appreciate it..

you probably killed the MAF.
It doesn't like to get wet.
The MAF is the sensor right after the airfilter mounted in a black plastic tube
It senses how much air is going into the engine.
You could try and clean it with brake or carb cleaner, but don't brush it or something. If it doesn't work buy a new sensor about 80 guid I believe.
