Howdy,
would an IC waterspray kit for a classic STI fit my standard 93wrx?
The kit comes with everything ie: pump, pipes, switch, connectors and the black plastic intercooler thingy....bit that fixes on the underside of the bonnet that goes onto the IC
If so, any benefits?
Thanks

My not very scientific tests by accelerating and braking repeatedly and then immediately stopping and feeling the intercooler seem to indicate that the spray works.
Without using the spray the intercooler fins would get warm, almost hot, with the spray the fins actually feel cool to the touch.
Although I think a better intercooler would be a better option especially if you're going to be paying a lot for the water spray.
This is while running 1.05bar.

I just want the magic figure of 300bhp,
im not that far off so I thought the standard top mount I/C would be able to cope without buying a FMIC.
I just figured that the spray would help things along nicely

with the water spray and better tmic you could up the boost a little to get to 300bhp perhaps.
Don't forget to think about fuelling though and i'm not too sure what the max power the 380cc injectors can deliver.

For what it's worth, I have one of the first 5,000 Lancia Integrale Evos with an IC waterspray. Testing on trackdays with a temp sensor in the intercooler shows the spray makes about 7-9 deg difference. On a 300hp car (like my Grale) each degree equals about 2 bhp at 1.7 bar. So nearly 20hp difference. Not much use on the road tho', IMHO.

I've just recently made my own I/C spray system purely for the reason that my car seemed to pull harder whenever it rained (rainwater driving it's way into the scoop & onto the I/C)
There's two pumps in my washer bottle, one for the front & another pump for rear squirter's. I just sacrificed my rear wash squirter & ran a new pipe from the pump to some micro irrigation nozzles in the rubber strip that surrounds the I/C. Then I wired a simple push button switch to it & the nozzles pump out a fine mist all over the I/C each time I push the button![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Cost around £10 in parts but I pinched piping from work

If you want to buy a 2nd hand I/C spray kit try subaru breakers (example Japanese Performance Cars - Japanese Car Imports)
