Default standard air box or induction kit

spoke to powerstation to day about getting the apexi induction kit for my 93 wrx import and the bloke said it would be better to get a performance panel filter with the standard box as it only sucks cold air in and they have seen better power gains that way ,
when i bought my car it had a induction kit on it already so have not felt how the car drives with standard air box on

any one got any veiws on this ? experinces ?

cheers

Either swap it for an airbox or build yourself a heatsheild.
