Default Can someone confirm my worst fears!!!

Car is a JDM 96 WRX, recently having trouble starting it, sounds really rough, as though its not running on all cylinders and stalls, usually starts ok second time or if up depress the throttle before turning it over.

Checked under bonnet, after a race this a 911 the other day, and there was loads of coolant all over the battery etc, looks like it had come from the overflow, the header tank was almost empty. Filled it up, started the car, and there were bubbles coming through in the overflow??? Thought it might just be because I just filled it and had some trapped air in there...checked it again after a run and still bubbles????

I'm assuming its one of my head gaskets??? Also blowing quite hard from oil filler...is it fecked??? Still very fast, no loss is power though?

Cheers in advance,
Neil.

i had this happen to me a few years ago

sorry to say it was both my head gaskets gone

cost a few bob to repair too

my advise would be to get it to a good subaru garage an get the heads tested to see if the gaskets have failed

good luck an i hope it turns out ok for you

read my posts on this subject, I have had mine tested for HG failure twice today it passed both times but needless to say it's bubbling coolant and im vertain it's HG! If coolant it pressurised, thermostat working and rad o.k it cant be anything other than HG!

bubbles in the expansion tank=exhaust fumes finding a way into the cooling system=head gasket failure...I am sorry and feel for you mate, I had that a few years ago....

Unfortunately, it is an engine out job, involves sending the heads for skimming, new head gaskets and fluids, this set me back £650.

Things to consider doing at the same time, oil+water pumps, engine mounts, spark plugs and cam belt+tensioner

hope this helps and good luck...

one more thing, this has to be done soon rather than later....as you are running the risk of overheating...

first have your header tank checked for gases if its all clear then check your rad for hair line cracks, if not thermostat could be nackerd, also a nackerd header tank cap can cause probs such as overheating/burst hoses/cracked rad! hope this helps..

It's head gasket. My old car did the exact same. I'd say sort it sooner than later, and no more hard runs, better yet don't drive it at all until it's fix.

This could so easiler lead to heating and cracks in the cylinders. If it hasn't already
