Default Ticking from the engine. . . .is it what I think?

Really dont want to be writing this thread!!!!

I have a 51 bugeye WRX

The mods are,

Full decat, (not headers)
IHI VF34 Turbo
STI T/M intercooler with 'Y' boost pipe
Walbro fuel pump
550cc injectors
Ecutek remap

Went on the to a rolling road shootout today and reached 303bhp/280ftlbs of torque all happy with that.
When It was on the rollers the operator said he heard a knocking from between 4-6k rpm as it was pulling off I heard a ticking from the engine bay.
Not sure what it could be!!!!
The ticking doesnt speed up when reving, just keeps at a constant tick when just idleing.Havent dare stick my foot down but couldnt hear it when driving home SLOWLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The cam belt was replaced at just over 10k miles ago when it went in for its 50k service.

Anyone know what this could be or sound like?
Bottom end?
Piston?
A loose belt perhaps?

Please someone reply quickly as its not a very nice feeleing not knowing what the problem is.

find out where its coming from first, mine ticks but its the tappets that need done or something on the pass side, could also be piston slap or cam belt tensioner if it sounds like its from the front or centre best bet is get it to someone who knows what they are doing

If its done a few miles it could be your lifters, they need shimming after a while to keep the gaps right..

Cheers guys,it sounds like its comeing from the drivers side under the corner of the intercooler? Any suggestons?
Its off to see a man who knows after the weekend for a final verdict so Im just sitting tight and bracing myself.
If it is piston slap would it get worse everytime I drove it?

Car has done 60k miles now.

Hello, dont know much but my friends wagon made a tapping noise when he got it and it turned out to be one of the ht leads (whatever their called on an impreza). it was not pushed in right and made a tapping noise which sounded like tappets, worth trying it could be that simple, he felt simple when he took it to the subaru dealer teehee

I dont think piston slap is a problem to worry about.
Also the 'Ticking' noise your hearing could be your injectors, they make that kind of noise, its only them opening and closing that you hear

ditto the lifters/tappets.

mine need doing to, but after speaking with jase @ scoobybits about sorting it out, he said its not worth dropping the engine out and not replaceing the seals etc, i think similar to a bottom end rebuild i think he said.

so i personally decided to wait and put up with the noise until then. comes from my engine bay round the middle/passenger side.

could be boost solenoid, tappets from another piston before piston slap or knocking.
