Motec 800 in MY03 WRX
Hi there guys.. i seen quite a feww ppl is quite interested in changing their ecu... well my car is bought from MI and it's only a WRX... i repeat WRX.. non STI... so basically from the ori spec 225 bhp on the crank which roughly is 165whp on the wheel.. pls allow a 30% loss of power from the crank to the wheels...
so only modification to the engine is swapping a TD04 turbo to a TD05-16G... decat with HKS Hi power Exhaust....samco intercooler hose and finally a APS CAI and a bigger fuel pump recently fitted...
The preparation for my car took nearly a week as this tuner is from australia and he is the authorised dealer for motec in aus. His company works with POsche Cup and other high peformance tuning and modification..
The total cost is about 16-17K which include the motec unit with all sensors.. some slight mod to the intercooler to fit the new air temp sensor.. and the best thing of this ecu is it's plug and play with the oem ecu...
which the ecu is preloaded with a base map created by the tuner himslef to allow me to use the car.. tuning only took less than 1 hour and the car was not push till the max unlike other tuners here in KL which i have seen many cases of engine blow..
so basically i am very pleased with the out come with the amount of power and torque which the torque band is steady from 3500-6000rpm..
so here i include the dyno chart...
Now i am pushing 234 whp with 290N/m of torque.. on the wheels

For 16-17k, I'd be expecting a hell of a lot more than 100 Bhp
There are various packages here, 9k for 450
Why change to a motec when an ECUtec using your ecu will do the same job (unless you are racing)

Why pay all that money for a MoTeC ECU when there are ECU's out there that PnP just as easy but are less than half that cost. Considering the latest standard ECU's are more than capable upto 450 ish HP with an ECUTEK remap then its even more pointless. Its not about which ECU that you choose, its about the guy who maps it and puts the correct numbers in them. For £2400 ish I'd be wanting alot more than 310hp at the flywheel

pulling at 290Nm of torque.. will full stock internals..

My WRX makes 317bhp and 405Nm of torque with a VF35 and a few supporting mods on standard internals and a remapped standard subaru ecu for a lot less money then 2400 GBP. If you ask me you have paid a lot of money for an ECU that you didn't really need.

Blimey! All that from just a new ECU?
Where are you based? (to clear up how much it cost)
Also, any pics of your car?
On another note...
How much did it set you back (and where) if you don't mind me asking. This is what i'd like to do to mine, eventually.
