Excessive fuel being burnt off in the exhaust,dv can cause this as the mixture in the engine will be richer than normal when the dv vents air to atmosphere.....

A decat will also give you pops every time. I've got a decat and OE recirc DV and the car pops very nicely on gear changes and on overrun.

A straighthrough exhaust will also make the pops much more noticeable.

What went bang on yours?
I'm taking mine on a rolling road in the next couple of weeks to make sure all is well. I've also fitted an ESL chip, so it should be OK.

piston/conrod.Dont think it was anythin to do with the exhaust/forge or anythin just unlucky i guess but the remap might be a good idea to sort out the overfuelling prevent bore wash

Like you say, probably would have happened anyway.
I must admit, I intended keeping the engine standard, but when you get the chance of cheap parts you've got to have them
If the rolling road session finds any problems they'll just have to come off again

Gonna be pretty hard to eliminate overfueling when there is a vta valve fitted as its always gonna do it,irrespective of the mapping, as the already measured is is being vented, but the fuel to go with that air will always be injected, hence the over fuel.... be pretty extreme to cause bore wash though.

My car used to pop and bang like mad with a full decat and HKS SSQV. Since having the PFC and remap it doesnt do it at all. Looking at the before and after power run graphs you can see how the AFR was all over the shop pre map and nicely oroned out afterwards...
