Default Droning Exhaust

Hi folks, I've just fitted a large bore back box to my 2 litre sport wagon. On tick over it sounds great but when you're doing 70-80ish the droning is deafening. Has anyone else had this problem, is it because the wagon has less sound deadening or an open boot area.
Thanks for any comments Flateric

Correct.
Additional sound deadening is in order or a quieter zorst.

Open boot area.

The saloons have a nice enclosed space, trapped between the backrest of the rear seat, the parcel shelf, and the boot lid. The wagons don't have this extra sound reducing area.

I don't know about the Sport models, but when I got an exhaust for my turbo wagon, I made sure I went for a system with a centre resonator as a bit of investigation prior to purchase revealed that the droning could be a problem with some exhausts when fitted to the wagons.

It may also be your choice of back box. Is it a good quality item, or a Max Power special? If your car doesn't have a centre resonator, fit one and it should cure the problem, if it has already got one, I'd consider a change of back box, or it's not unheard of to have another (extra) resonator fitted.

Hope you get sorted matey.

The other option is to buy a Turbo model.....That way I can say for definite that a Magnex system with resonator sounds fine!! lol

Cheers for that advice, I don't think it has a middle resonator box so I think I'll go down that line first.
Thanks Flateric

What exhaust is it?

I have an 03 wagon, de-cat, backbox and deresonated centre section from Scoobyworld and it isn't intrusive at all. Sounds like you've bought something silly like a Nur Spec!

5t.
