Perrin GT3071r Turbo Kit - Tuners advice please??
I have just bought an axis racing stage 2 2.5ltr bottom end for my wrx. I already have all the other bits required for my conversion but am now looking for a turbo to use for this engine but at the right price. My tuner has recommended an MD321T but i simply cannot afford this therefore he has recommended me to go for the TD05 20g but will limit the power to 380bhp.
Has anyone got any knowledge on the perrin kit as its available from the staes at an awesome price and looks opne hell of a kit but i cannot find any infomation about how much power this can handle or if it would be suitable for my conversion.
Heres a link to the kits for sale new from tuners in america:
Perrin GT3071R .82AR Turbo Kit Subaru WRX/STI 02+ NyxRacing.com - Your Online Import Part Store
Perrin GT3071R .82AR Turbo Kit 02-07 WRX / STI
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

At that price you can afford a MD turbo......
Try buying one direct from Mark at Lateral as this will save you money...

I have found a new kit unfitted for sale second hand in america mate, can have it in this country for around £1000 (Due to current Dollar Vs Pound exchange rate) and that would also mean i can also sell my down pipe, up pipe and intake i have already bought brand new. Them links were only examples of the kits and whats included mate.

As above that kit will NOT fit RHD cars, you will have to purchase a rotated up-pipe / down pipe combo £500 ish from Lateral
I would go with....
MD321T from Lateral (straight bolt on) for 475 HP (ish)
or
FP Red from Forced Performance (straight bolt on) in the States $1000ish + shipping. 500 HP +

Yeah and no messing about with an external wastegate either. When you consider the cost of uppipe / downpipe and wastegate before you even buy the turbo it really makes the MD321T appeal to me.

Being that I have fitted the Perrin kit to a Newage & a Classic, yes it is possible
Having said that, Md321t will be far easier.
On a new age the Up-pipe is dangerously close to the sterring rack, (manufacturers have to make sure there is at least 20mm clearance from critical moving parts), the up-pipe sits about 5mm from the rack and because of the design of the perrin kit (nothing to brace the up pipe) it is possible for the turbo to move and hit the rack (unless it it modified)
Second problem the compressor housing almost touches the brake servo, so with the body flex on hard cornering you get an annoying vibration, so the Brake servo has to be moved or slightly angled with a plate away from the turbo.
On a classic, Don't bother.
There is plenty of clearance on the steering rack but the brake servo is in the way and is not possible to move it enough so get the turbo in, so Up-pipe needs a small adjustment & the downpipe needs lots of adjustment, think it took about 15 hours all told to get it about right.
I had lots of time and just fancied a challenge but is not something I would do again.
