Default Cusco Coilovers knocking, any suggestions?

Hey guys,

I recently bought a used set of Cusco coilovers which I was really happy with until I fitted them. Straight after having them fitted they started knocking (only the front left) over really small bumps. I think the whole shock may need replacing. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I don't know much about coilovers and thought someone may be able to point me in the right direction to fix them. Very disappointing for my first mod! If I have to replace the whole shock I'll save up and get a set of new Tein's on Greddy's as there's an agent just up to road from me.

Thanks allot...

IMHO Cuscos will always make noises... there too stiff for uk roads... I ended up replacing mine with Avos, but they weren't quiet for long...
Coilovers will never be noise free...

Being secondhand it could be the bearing in the top mount having a little play.
In one of those pics though, the main spring looks as if it isn't located at the bottom? (difficult to tell)

Thanks, appreciate the replies. Scoobyslammed, these are not normal noises. There is a really bad knock. I had a set of Tein's on my last WRX and they were great, didn't knock at all but a nice stiff ride.

AlanG, I think you may have hit the nail on the head. I've been told by two garages in the area that the bearing in the top mount could be worn. Problem is no one can tell without taking them apart, so I'll be sending it in this week. I'm really hoping I don't have to replace the whole shock as they're a pretty good set of suspension, but it won't be worth replacing the shocks. I may as well get a new set.

Cheers.
