the problem with 2.0 n/a Sports is that you can't get much out of them, say 150bhp max. You can do things like headres, decat and decient cat back. Performance panel filter and lighened fly wheel, lighter pullies and thats about it really that you can do to the engine. An ECU remap/chip is NOT worth it as it will only give you about 10-12 bhp increase for a lot of wedge. Would not bother.
But how are your brakes and suspension?. Its not how much bhp/torque your engine has, but how well your brakes perform. With decient stoppers, you are gaining 10bhp because you can brake later. I have got subaru 2 pots upfront with decient Mintex pads and groved discs at the front and single pots at the rear with Mintex pads and groved discs and also rear brainded brake lines and upgraded 5.1 brake fluid and the braking is pretty sweet. I can brake pretty late, quite a bit later thant the stock single pots and rear drums that I used to have.
Suspension is another item that will make you car handle better and perform better. Lowering springs is a start, then chose how mad you want to so with all the performance tuned suspension parts and have fun in the twisties.
