Cylinder head differences.

Cylinder head differences.
How chop n changeable are the heads on EJ20’s?
I appreciate there are phases 1/1.5/2 and each set of heads would need their respective manifolds, but would the camshafts be interchangeable between phases?
I’ve recently stripped what I believe to be a V2/3 STI Type RA (5th inj, CDB block etc), would these camshafts fit into say MY99/00 heads ?
Thanks.

MY99/00 heads are the later type with 2 thrust faces for the camshafts - so no - they wont fit.
You might even find your RA heads have hydraulic lifters, as a lot of the early ones with a CDB and 5th injector were.
True STi Ver2 have Top Hat Inner Shims - worth checking.

Thanks for your help guys. I had a feeling they wouldn't fit, but hey, you gotta try these things. I still might offer them up when they're both on the bench.
Merlin24 : You know your stuff!! They do indeed have the inner shims you mention. The finish on the lifters looks a little special too, a mirror-like finish without a single circular mark on them.
Thanks again chaps.
