Default please help-hot burning/oily smell following service

three weeks ago had 80,000 mile service done on 98 Turbo 2000. ever since have noticed a hot/burning slightly oily smell coming from under the bonnet but cant see anything wrong and no smoke. used shell helix plus engine oil which is what the car has had since ive owned and has always been fine - any ideas what might be causing this/what i can check? car is not overheating (according to dash temp gauge and seems to be running fine ).

Is the oil level stable? The oil filter is fairly close to the exhaust manifold where it crosses from one side to the other. Make sure there is no leak at the filter. It could also be a weep from the cam cover(s) Happens with age.
