Default OBD MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON?

As above,anyone had this before,its an 03 wrx blob,any ideas?

needs plugging into obd reader to see what the error code record is.

Have you done anything to your car recently.

We could have a guess but as Simon say, it needs plugging in to know.

true.. also what was the car / engine doing at the time it came on?

cruise or high revs etc

engine is standard,general use going to and from work,but i did tow my wifes 206 about a week ago for about 4 miles?

how much will it cost me to put on an OBD reader? do you know of any good places in bolton/manchester?

Somebody near you might have a fault code reader,

You can buy an ELM323 lead off ebay for £30 and the software is free so you can read you own codes and reset the ECU if you have a laptop or a light PC lol.

Warning though, reseting the ECU is only advisable as a last resort because you loose all the self adjustment settings the ECU has learnt.

You dont want to pay much more than £20 to have it pluged in or you might aswell buy your own lead.

Find ELM 323 EOBD OBD2 ISO 9141 Protocol USB ELM323 on eBay within, Diagnostic Tools Equipment, Garage Equipment Tools, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 20-Nov-07 17:26:41 GMT)

The light has gone off? shall i still get it checked or keep driving?

it will remain in the history.. you could get it checked or as it has gone off.. ignore until it comes on again or at the next service get them to plug in and see if it is still in the history.
