Still o.k. around 400 bhp, but an FMIC looks nice....

I got one but it's not nice when you shut the throttle quickly the car "shudders", I think due to air-flow problems.... then there is the lag, it doesn't go away. You just have to use the gears properly !

P.S. When you really give it some on a hot day the TMIC can't cope and "backs off" the power to save the engine.... FMIC doesn't that's a plus !

Not completely, mine is dead at 30 mph in top, you have to use the gears or it will take all day to reach positive boost, and then all hell breaks loose

Overall mine isn't 100% user friendly, but boy does it shift !

Cos I can't afford to change my car I'm gradually heading for 400 bhp, so bought the biggest FMIC on the market.... next headers and a Ball Bearing turbo, and that needs another re-map.... but hope it doesn't require bigger injectors.

worth keeping in mind that on an 03sti you will have to chop the big fat (metal) cross member just behind the bumper into bits, and it may not be as strong structurally in a collision. All except the very, very expensive front mounts seem to require this modification.

I'd stay on TMIC up to 400bhp (this is what e.g. Andy Forrest recommends, I believe).

I'm running a TMIC with an MD321H and supporting mods making just over 400bhp. Instant throttle response and no real temperature issues in fast road conditions. AndyF runs a standard TMIC on his Spec-C and MD321T making over 450bhp. Good enough for him, good enough for me

And as Henrik rightly says, many FMICs require you to chop out the metal cross member behind the bumper. When I ditched my FMIC to go back to TMIC, this was the first thing I put right - definitely structurally weaker

Mine's gone completely !

Haven't noticed any structural compromise tbh.... too busy "hanging on"

Dunx

Do have a front strut brace on it tho'
