Default turbo questions. cheers all

Ive got a Turbo 2000 uk.

It was running TD04 with Sti Ecu. which made 291bhp and 287 torque.

as you can imagine running that little turbo to that power it didnt last to long... Put on prev owner

i got the car about year ago with the turbo td04 already on it aswell as the Sti ecu.(I only noticed it was a sti ecu about 8 months ago because i took the passanger footwell apart and noticed it had pink sti stamped over it.

What ive done over weekend is took whole exhuast off aswell as the td04 off..

ive got hold of VF22 which i was thinking about running the turbo with my STI ecu running gear

Another problem i found is that turbo inlet pipe under the inlet mainfold has split and needs replacing... had a little look but looks abit fiddle. So i left it for one weekend with my car in bits... i took turbo(TD04L) off aswell as my whole exhaust .

Basically i want to know i think it be ok but just to double check... running my VF22 on my STi stamped ecu... i will reset the ecu.....

Just abit anoyed about the inlet pipe as it looks like i got to remove the inlet manifold which i aint done before. If i do go and remove it work parts do i need to replace like gaskets or anythink.... if so how many gaskets.

cheers all

Dave

What version Sti is the ecu from?
If its from a version 1-4 the it would be better to replace it with one that is mappable.
Putting a different bigger turbo on without mapping the air/fuel mix to match wouldnt be a very good idea IMHO

i assume the previous owner has a damage turbo and just bought a td04 to run it. i dont think the sti ecu would run properly as it has a different maf sensor to a normal wrx. correct me if i am wrong guys

dont risk it, get it mapped.

tried putting my old ecu onto a car with same mods and it was running lean so it needs to be mapped for the specific car.

There should be two letters on the front of the ecu casing? what are they??
Should be something along the lines of-
6K, or Z4 or something

Not all STi's came with a VF turbo. The version 1+2 sti's have a TD05.
Also the ecu is controlling the air/fuel mix and the timing, all of which will be different on your car.
If the ecu can be mapped, then get it done sooner rather than later. A remap is a hell of alot cheaper than a rebuild for the engine.

you'd be so much better putting the / a standard my00 ECU back in and getting it remapped

i've got the standard ECU on mine MY00 , running over 450 bhp
