Default antilag query?

hi, i was looking to fit an aftermarket ecu to my car, i was thinking about the motec unit, cos it has antilag function, when enquiring about it i was told that to get the best sounds (bangs) from the antilag it i would need to open the throttle body each time but this can only be done manually on my classic impreza, i know on the evos they have a "kicker valve" fitted to do this, can the throttle body not be opened on the classic impreza by mechanical means, hope someone can help me on this, cheers.
