Default de-cat without cel light coming on?

As above, Im considering the de-cat option for my 02 bugeye wrx. Im thinking of either replacing the catpipe &/or the down pipe. I already have the racing headers which has caused the cel light to flash up with egt fault. However I will use the resistor trick to bypass the system as per the instructions on the nasioc.com website and hopefully clear the cel light.

So can I :

a) buy a catpipe that will still house the lambda & stop the cel coming on and
b) buy a downpipe that stops the cel coming on?

Cheers

I replaced my downpipe/cat pipe today with a H&S open throat decat .this is a one piece design that allows for the o2 sensor to be refitted, not sure if you have 2 sensors ie downpipe and cat pipe or 1like my STI on the catpipe but the H&S decat has allowance for downpipe sensor and cat pipe sensor.I havnt had any warning lights come on so far

the emissions CEL will come on with sensor fitted as the cat is no longer sorting the emissions etc.. can be turned of within the ecu when mapped, which as you have headers and are now removing other cats I hope you are sorting anyway.

Cheers for the info guys. Simon Im not sure if my car has been & still is mapped.. No reciepts but was told that it used to run a full de cat system but was subsequently reversed back to original exhausts at the time of selling. (px'd it from a stealer so they wanted to sell it as standard as possible) However the headers were never replaced.

at the mo I have the headers, the cat-pipe is oe but been the cat has been gutted? I also have a stainless back box.

All I want is reliable performance. What do you think I should do? Any advice/help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Car should be mapped for the mods you mention.. would recommend either getting it mapped or at least checked (if it is possible it was mapped for the mods previously etc). Tends to overboost when you change the downpipe to a decat etc.. headers make it lean.

Cheers Simon.

Lot there too think about. I could do with getting it checked out. Does anyone know / recommend any decent garages in the north west - preferably manchester.

Nice 1
