Default Strange creak noise help!

Hi i have a 95 wagon and have a sound coming from the front left side. i have checked the belts and all ok. the way to explain it is when i turn it, it creaks and also knock i think when i turn or hit a bump or rough road no humming as if wheel bearing has gone could it be spiggot if they have one had a similar prob on my corrado, i think i can rule out the steering pump as the main creak and noise is only one sided (left) and have changed the fluid when you turn its like the tyre is on a really sticky garage type floor and when turns creake on the floor if you know what i mean its like that but also knocking(ish) but not bad any ideas help please cheers.
